Food & Culture Day

May 2004

The Palestinian community in Victoria celebrated a day of Palestinian culture, food and fun. A gathering that exceeded 200 people from members, friends, the Manningham city councilors, church members and many others. The event included Palestinian artifacts, folklore and traditional Palestinian food. A fantastic event by all accounts, evident from the positive feedback.

The day started with a welcome note from Eddie Fares, PCA management member.

Then the highlight of the afternoon was a Dabkeh (cultural Palestinian dance) performance by the young performers of the Dabkat group. A newly formed group of the community members.

Then the food competition start. With over 20 unique Palestinian dishes, guests were passed score cards, and were asked to score each dish they taste.

The kids were well taken care of, having their own entertainment program while their parents enjoy the tasting process.
